馬斯克一開口就拿彼得・提爾那句「說好的飛車呢，結果只等到 140 字」來開場，也太會挑時機了吧，因為他接下來要端出的就是能飛的車。這段發表會沒有太多規格轟炸，重點全放在一台衝上斜坡、靠噴射推進落地的 Roadster 上，馬斯克說它「基本上可以像火箭一樣飛」。
